My journey into remote work actually started with something very simple:

Instagram page management.

I didn't run paid ads. I didn't have a big audience. I didn't have some complicated strategy.

I simply knew who I wanted to serve.

For example, if I wanted to work with a particular type of business, I would search for hashtags those businesses and their customers were using. Then I would start going through the pages I found.

But I wasn't just looking for pages to pitch.

I was looking for problems.

I would look at their content and ask myself:

👉 What are they doing wrong?
👉 Is their content inconsistent?
👉 Are they using hashtags properly?
👉 Could their content be better organized?
👉 Is there something about the way they manage their page that could be improved?

Whenever I found a page with an obvious issue, I saw an opportunity to start a conversation.

I would use ChatGPT to help me structure my pitch based on the specific problem I noticed, then I would send it to the business owner.

My target was roughly 5 prospects a day.

Not everyone responded. Some ignored me completely. Some weren't interested.

But when someone responded, I followed up and continued the conversation.

That's how I started selling small services such as hashtag research and content calendars, and eventually, I started managing entire Instagram pages for clients.

Looking back, the biggest lesson for me wasn't Instagram.

It was this: "I didn't wait for a remote job to find me. I went looking for people who had a problem I could solve."

And everything was organic.

No paid ads. No fancy funnel.

Just identifying the right people, finding a problem, reaching out, following up, and improving my offer along the way.

If you're trying to get your first remote job or client, that's probably where I would start.

Don't just ask, "Where can I find remote jobs?"

Ask yourself:

"Who needs something I can do, and how can I get in front of them?"
