The company I was working with recently shut down, so I've got some free time while I figure out my next move.

I've been working in tech for years, building websites, web apps, mobile apps, software, and even a few games.

But honestly, finding decent freelance work online has been tough lately. I've tried looking around, but nothing much has come through.

I figured I'd ask here in case anyone needs help with a project. I'm open to taking on new work.

For those of you in New Zealand, how are you finding clients these days? Are you still getting work through freelance platforms, or have you found other ways to land clients?

Upwork recently added MCP, and honestly, it feels like the platform is becoming more like pay-to-win clients. Why not give it a try?

I've lost trust in Upwork. It feels like the company is constantly looking for new ways to make money from freelancers. For now, I'm staying away from the platform because finding work there has become increasingly difficult.

There are so many developers competing for jobs, but far fewer clients hiring. The competition is simply too high, and the balance between freelancers and available clients seems way off.

Bro, just run ads. I build websites using Claude and Figma and sell them to local clients for anywhere between $3k and $5k.

All you have to do is run ads, talk to the people who reach out, and close the deals.

I quadrupled my income last month just by running ads.

Just. Run. Ads.

Yes. I run ads on Facebook and Instagram targeting the New Zealand market. I spend around $50 - $75 daily.
